TIME partnered with data firm Statista to identify companies around the world using digital technology to make healthcare more effective and accessible, evaluating financial performance, reputation, and online engagement.
For us, the list is a snapshot of something we see every day inside the community: Health Transformers who have been building for years, many of them as StartUp Health members for over a decade, and who are now delivering measurable impact at scale. Together they span nearly every health moonshot, from Access to Care and Women's Health to Alzheimer's & Brain Health, Healthy Longevity, Caregiving, Cardiometabolic & T1D, Mental & Behavioral Health, and Food as Medicine. Three of them – Cala, Cityblock, and Particle Health – earned TIME's top "Outstanding" rating.
What connects them is a shared belief that technology works best when it meets people where care begins, pairing smarter tools with the clinicians, coaches, and caregivers who make care feel human.

Access TeleCare is the largest and oldest acute specialty telemedicine company in the country.
As described in a recent Health Moonshot Update, Access TeleCare is making specialty care accessible to more than 200 million Americans. Joshua DeTillio and Chris Gallagher, MD, of Access TeleCare lead a physician-led model embedded directly into hospital workflows and EHRs, bringing eight specialty service lines – neurology, behavioral health, cardiology, infectious disease, pulmonary critical care, nephrology, hospitalist services, and maternal-fetal medicine – to hospitals in all 50 states. The result: community hospitals can keep patients close to home, reduce costly transfers, and stay financially viable.

Babyscripts is rethinking the delivery of pregnancy care through the power of technology and remote patient monitoring.
Anish Sebastian of Babyscripts has spent more than a decade building a virtual care platform that lets OB providers monitor blood pressure and other warning signs between visits, so risks like preeclampsia can be caught earlier. Now the company is making the case for expanding remote monitoring beyond high-risk pregnancies, giving every expecting mom a safety net that follows her home.

Deanna Harshbarger and Kate Rosenbluth, PhD, of Cala Health are scaling a wrist-worn neuromodulation therapy that offers people living with essential tremor and Parkinson's disease a non-invasive, drug-free option. This spring, Cala secured $50M in growth capital from Trinity Capital following FDA clearance of its next-generation kIQ Plus device and new Medicare coverage pathways, bringing its total raised since 2021 to $177M across three rounds.

The company recently partnered with Feed.fm to bring personalized music into its senior care platform, adding another simple, human way to connect.

That early signal gives caregivers and senior living teams time to act, while giving older adults more independence and their families more peace of mind.

This summer, CMS named Cecelia Health among the accepted applicants for the launch of its outcomes-based ACCESS Model, opening a new path to deliver that support to Medicare beneficiaries.

Dr. Toyin Ajayi of Cityblock is building a care model that brings primary, behavioral, and social care together for people the system too often leaves behind. In August, Cityblock announced a $116M Series E led by General Catalyst alongside a definitive agreement to acquire Homeward Health, pairing its urban Medicaid and dual-eligible model with Homeward's rural Medicare Advantage reach, following a January partnership with Meridian Health Plan of Illinois to serve 10,000 Medicaid members.

Journey is a leading preventative mental health solution for modern companies.
Stephen Sokoler of Journey has spent 11 years reimagining workplace mental health as proactive rather than reactive, with Journey Proactive EAP, a preventive model launched in January 2023 that supports employees in 190 countries and offers therapy in 100 languages. In a recent Health Moonshot Update, Sokoler cited a clinical study showing that when employees engage with Journey, "employers save $580 per employee per year in healthcare costs," and Journey is now building Journey Signal, a real-time AI tool designed to help get people support sooner.

Charlie Bullock of Scan.com is building the infrastructure that connects patients, providers, and payers to imaging centers with transparent pricing and fast scheduling. In August, Scan.com closed a $220M raise led by Noteus Partners to build out what it describes as the first national API for medical imaging and the largest medical imaging network in the US.

Vheda Health’s moonshot mission is to accelerate health equity for everyone by providing easy access to care from anywhere.
Shameet Luhar and Philip Rub of Vheda Health help health plans identify and engage their highest-risk, hardest-to-reach members, an approach the company says has saved plans more than $975M. This month, Vheda secured a $47M investment from Agora, its first institutional capital after 13 years of bootstrapped growth, to fuel national expansion of its outcomes and analytics platform.
