The Builder Behind ViewMind

For more than 30 years, Mark Edwards has been drawn to the same moment. He ran Windows at Microsoft UK, served as EVP at Symbian, and led Mformation as CEO. The thread connecting it all, he says: “I’ve always been drawn to the moment when a new platform technology creates a category that didn’t exist before.”

Today, he sees that moment in brain health. “ViewMind is that moment for brain health.”

We routinely measure blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar. Brain health, by contrast, often goes unmeasured until symptoms are hard to ignore. A 2024 USC analysis of Medicare claims from more than 226,000 primary care clinicians, published in The Journal of Prevention of Alzheimer’s Disease, found that only about 8% of expected mild cognitive impairment cases were diagnosed.

A Moonshot Built on Earlier Answers

ViewMind pairs AI with XR-based eye tracking to assess brain health in minutes. “Think of it as what Oura Ring is for sleep, but for the brain,” Mark says. A 2025 study in Brain Communications found the platform identified people with an inherited Alzheimer’s gene mutation who didn’t yet have symptoms with 96% accuracy.

The company’s Health Moonshot is to provide precision, scalable, and non-invasive screening for Alzheimer’s disease in primary care settings.

And the evidence base keeps growing. ViewMind Atlas is part of the Global Alzheimer’s Platform Foundation’s Bio-Hermes-002 study. That work is supported by a $1.4 million Diagnostics Accelerator (DxA) award from the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation to examine how ViewMind’s eye-based measures relate to amyloid and tau PET scans. A separate 2025 National Institute on Aging SBIR grant is funding work to evaluate whether ViewMind can detect the amyloid and tau buildup consistent with Alzheimer’s in people with mild cognitive impairment. Meanwhile, ViewMind Neuroscan, a 10-minute assessment that is exempt from FDA 510(k) clearance in the US, reached more than 20 concierge and longevity clinics in 2025. There it measures cognition before, during, and after treatment.

Stronger Together

Mark credits the Alzheimer’s Moonshot Community with expanding both ViewMind’s network and its visibility. “I think the biggest impact so far is just connecting with a lot of individuals who have a similar mission,” he says. “We can all help each other out. And that’s what we’ve been doing with some of the startups and the advisers in the network.”

The community has also helped “raise awareness of ViewMind within a mission-aligned network,” he adds, and he’s eager to keep building. “I look forward to connecting with like-minded partners committed to transforming cognitive health.”
